RE: [TGB] Choan-kia siau-sit
Dear Sirs:
hw~lw` ueQ~ (holo language) is tonal like other Sino-Tibetan languages
such as Mandarin, Vietnamese or Cantonese. But it differs from those
languages in that it changes tones in the speech flow. This is unique among
all languages in the world I know of. If any body knows other benTg-diaoQ~
qi`qen' (changing-tone languages) please let me know.
hw~lw` ueQ~ changes tones for meaning, not for mood, emphasis or the like
No body has done any research on this subject yet. Academia Sinica Taiwan
should include "benTg-diaoQ~" in their study subjects including its history,
evolution, linguistic implication, influence on human mind, etc. Why, in the
world, our ancestors wanted to change our "words" pronunciations (tones) in
our speech flow. I haven't seen any such work yet. Maybe, we should not
count on the "international" scholars who are not familiar with hw~lw`
ueQ~. An indigenous linguistic scholar can make a name for himself on this
subject, I believe. Please comment, every body.
Note: The ending in a Taiwanese word after a capital letter is voiceless. It
denotes the root of that word to differential among its homonyms.
(Q=qen'=speech, Tg=tiong'=insect.)
P.S. Sorry I don't have Character types.
Thx.
