They put the carriage in front of the horse. They want us to write “ing” and pronounce it as “eng” as engage. It is a REVERSE “itacism”! We did talk about this , but since the Chinese education is the current force, we are unable to stop the Taiwanese language degenerate into Chinese. Even at the seminary, most students say “Sin-kin” for Seng-keng and “sin-lin” for seng-leng. They do NOT pronounce  the “I” as “e” as advocated by “those” people! I just give up fighting against those who put the carriage in front of the horse.   Sent from Windows Mail

When I initiated and persuaded the Chungshan Medical University to establish the department of Taiwanese Language Department, I inisted that this department was to promote the traditonal Taiwanese LoMaJi ( the so-called church LMJ).  Unfortunbately, this insistence was deviated after I stepped down as the dean of the college. The teachers within the departemnt started arguing the aim of the department and the insistence on the tradional LMJ was dis-regarded by the teachers whom I had heartedly lobbied to get hired. When this orginal purpose was deviated, I started thinking perhaps my original enthusiasm was a mistake. When the university considered to dismantle the department, I losed my ground to lobby again.
