Chinese Windows XP launched in Taiwan
2001/10/27
By William C. Pao, The China Post
Microsoft Taiwan Corporation launched the Chinese version of Windows XP last night at Nova Communications Market on Guanchien Road, where hundreds of people stood in line to get a copy of the new operating system that took the software giant six years to develop.
The launch ceremony was held a day after the U.S. launch of the new operating system.
The product, which will be installed in newly-manufactured PCs, carries the hope of boosting sluggish sales experienced by various sectors across the IT industry, especially the PC market.
